The community of seaweed such as Japanese kelp, sea mustard and so on, is called alga forest. It is a very important ground for breeding marine life.

But recently, rising of water temperature caused by global warming had increased appetite of fish such as drummer that fed on seaweed. They ate up seaweed of alga forest and invited phenomenon of denudation.

Fishery co-operative association in Nagasaki was working hard to deal with this phenomenon called shore-burning. They were trying to bring drummer which was a contributing factor of it, to citizens’ tables.

In order to cooperate with their efforts INO conducted pilot sales of drummers, with a help of Payao direct sales store of Okinawa fishery co-operative association, and carried out hearing survey to the people concerned, in July 2010.
